Experience

I am a professional Math Tutor for standardized tests. I have been tutoring for more than 15 years and prepared thousands of students for the SAT and ACT. My tutoring method focuses on the individual student's strengths and weaknesses and has helped dozens of students achieve scores they never thought possible. Parents are most impressed by my ability to bond with each student and provide customized support, much like an athletic coach. The tutoring that I provide is highly personalized. During my first lesson, I administer a real test from a past year and carefully observe the student’s test taking ability. I then tailor my instruction toward the student's strengths, making sure that he or she feels challenged and motivated. After each lesson I give homework, and between sessions I’m available to provide help, motivation and moral support. Unlike many tutors, who drift when their students work on practice problems, I spend every minute of my time interacting with my student. I’m very efficient with my tutoring time, taking personal notes and reflecting on what works and what doesn’t. I teach my students how to approach a problem and think of the solution. Anyone can pick up study guides and practice exam books while checking the answers. However, the book won’t tell you what you are doing wrong or how to improve your skills. If students want to be sure of doing well on their first attempt, I’ll teach them exclusive techniques and timing skills that simply can’t be found in a study guide but come from years of experience and expertise. Tutoring is my passion. I take great joy in helping my students. My work goes far beyond just preparing them for standardized tests. It involves helping them to develop skills that will serve them not only on exams, but also in their future college careers and lives beyond academia.
