I have an BA in English from the University of British Columbia and an MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the School for International Training.

Experience

I began tutoring composition skills to college students at the University of British Columbia decades ago. I taught English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to teens and adults at language schools and college programs in Taiwan and the US for ten years. In recent years, I have taught ESL at a community college and also tutored tweens, teens, and young adults. In addition to teaching and tutoring, I worked as an editor in the educational publishing industry for over years, where I directed the publication of a variety of reading, writing, grammar, and integrated skill series. Today, I work as a consultant for educational publishers--writing, editing, and project managing both print and online programs.

I enjoy cooking, traveling, and public speaking. I have been a member of Toastmasters for 15 years and have delivered over 50 speeches to a variety of audiences. I also enjoy mentoring new members on how to become more confident speakers.
